One Dog Changed Everything

This is how a $4,000 vet bill became a mission to save them all

Ashton's Story

In July 2025, I adopted a limping stray from Wake County Animal Shelter. His name is Ashton, and what we discovered days later changed my life forever.

Ashton needed immediate hip surgery—the result of being hit by a car during his time on the streets. The cost? Nearly $4,000.

If someone else had adopted him and couldn't afford this surgery, the shelter probably would have euthanized him.

— Ashton's Veterinarian

I could afford it, but barely. It wiped out my emergency fund. But Ashton was lucky—he found me. How many dogs and cats aren't so lucky?

That's why I founded Ashton's Hope. Because luck shouldn't determine whether a pet lives or dies.
